Having carried out the electrical design on the Hybrid Ferry’s built for Caledonian Maritime Assets ltd, Ferguson Marine requested that we oversee the Factory Acceptance Test for the Propulsion Drives and the Integrated test of the Hybrid System on their behalf.
The Port Main switchboard, both Propulsion Drive Cabinets where connected with one string of the ships battery’s. The test successfully demonstrated the transition between the various modes, moving from Shore Supply, to paralleling with a generator and bringing the propulsion drives on-line then moving on to Hybrid mode before finally operating the system on battery’s only.
