Mersey Travel commissioned Esbel to carry out an assessment of plant and equipment on board passenger ferry Royal Iris and prepare a report identifying what new technology could be used to improve reliability, efficiency and energy consumption. In addition to identifying areas for improvement a Ships Energy Efficiency Management plan was developed (SEEMP). The SEEMP will allow Mersey Travel to monitor the ships performance over time which in turn will allow Mersey Travel to continually improve operational efficiency on the vessel, reduce CO2 emissions and improve awareness of energy efficiency on the vessels.
